Hotel Review – Omni Shoreham, Washington, D.C. 

The Omni Shoreham is a large hotel in the Woodley Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C. and it is full of history and elegance. The building itself is incredibly large and full of a wide variety of beautiful decorative details. Filled with ornate moldings, ceiling medallions, crystal chandeliers, and other intricate elements, the attention to classic style doesn’t disappoint.  
  

The hotel is recognized by the national register of historic places and is also the site of prominent historic events. Many presidential and celebrity functions have occurred here, and you can also find an original set list scrawled by The Beatles from their stay here on display in one of many hallways.

The hotel is not considered a resort property, however it offers many services and amenities that give it a resort atmosphere. It has a great fitness center and spa, onsite restaurant, bar, and market called Morsels, an Internet cafe, jewelry store, UPS store, seasonal pool, rental car desk and more!

  
If you’re hanging out in the opulent lobby area, you can count on seeing large groups clad in head-to-toe red or blue during the afternoon. That’s because this hotel is a favorite amongst Virgin Atlantic and Air France flight crews. Due to the great prices and multitude of meeting rooms, there’s also a lot of hustle and bustle from hundreds of conference attendees generally milling about the property. The only time these crowds are a problem is when the POS system in the both the restaurant and markets goes down during meal breaks! Yikes!!

And, this hotel has a secret! Room 870 is said to be haunted by two different ghosts! Because of my vivid imagination and the sound of the air moving through the ventilation system in the quiet, early morning hours, my walk down the corridor to the Ghost Suite was particularly spooky!!!

The rooms are updated, but still have some elements of original charm including the crystal door knobs on the closet doors. Just be sure to ask for a room with a view, where you’ll also be able to catch a nap in the afternoon sun too!  Close to the National Zoo, Rock Creek Park, a metro stop, and great dining choices, be sure to check out the Omni Shoreham during your next stay in DC!
