Philly has been on our “US cities to visit list” for a long time. In fact, we had a trip planned here in the fall of 2020, but it was canceled due to the pandemic. Although it took another 6 years to have the opportunity in our schedules to finally get to visit this city, we are so glad we finally made it! I had the opportunity to attend a conference here, and although our visit was short, we took in several historical sites and made the most of our time in the City of Brotherly Love!

Trip Type:

Work conference with fun on the side

Destination(s) Visted:

Philadelphia, PA

Where We Stayed:

Philadelphia Marriott Downtown

Favorite Memory:

Being in the downtown area was the ideal starting point for easy adventures. We found the central part of the city to be very walkable, with several top sites only a few minutes away. This allowed us to cover a lot of ground and see many things.

We enjoyed seeing the historical sites in Old Town Philadelphia. Yes, some of them are pretty “touristy” like the Liberty Bell, but the history of places like Independence Hall and Christ Church Burial Ground, where Benjamin Franklin is laid to rest are pretty cool to see for the first time. Personally, I will always remember walking around this whole area with a light fall mist in the air, ducking in from spot to spot to dry off a little bit. I think our favorite place, where we could definitely do a ton of damage on a longer trip, would have to be Reading Terminal Market!!

It was also so fun to go to McGillin’s Olde Ale House on both a busy Saturday night and Sunday during a football game!

Would We Go Back:

Yes! But probably not any time soon.

Photo Dump:

Even though it took quite a while to get to Philadelphia, we are so glad we were finally able to make it! Now, we can put a pin in it!
