Quarterly Travel Roundup – 4th Quarter 2018

For anyone who may have read my last quarterly travel roundup, you know that our 3rd quarter of 2018 was boring as far as travel goes.  I am here to tell you that we made up for it in the fourth and final quarter of the year! Not only were we able to embark on a long awaited, special anniversary trip, but we were also able to score some fantastic deals on two future trips!  We were back in travel business from October through December 2018! For anyone new to my quarterly travel roundups, these posts highlight our travel activities by offering glimpses of things that haven’t made it onto the blog yet!

October

October was an incredibly fruitful and busy travel month!  Not only did we head out on our anniversary trip, but we booked two additional trips all in the matter of a few days.  What can I say?  When you see a fantastic deal, you have to be willing to jump on it!  This is one of the ways we are able to travel as much as we do.  We just can’t justify paying high prices and wait for deals instead.  We really lucked out!

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world!

November

November was time catching up from our October trip, preparing for winter, and doing a little pre-planning for some future adventures.  We always like to keep an eye on the Black Friday sales too, just to see if we can find good deals.

What a beautiful sight on a chilly November day!

December

I am fortunate that my employer closes for the week between Christmas and New Year’s. This is great because it is yet another way we are able to travel more.  On the other hand, this is also bad because the holiday season is the most expensive and chaotic times of the year for travel.  We made sure to spend plenty of downtime during this break.  We also scheduled our final trip of 2018 to occur at the end of the month.  However, we always seem to have issues with any of the trips we take during this time of year   What do you want to bet that we had some challenges with this trip too?

By Land and Sea

I have been finished with my master’s degree for a few months now. But, I still have been running short on time. There just aren’t really enough hours in the day.  That means many things I’d love to do regarding this blog have been left in the parking lot for now.  We will see what the next quarter and year bring for By Land and Sea. We still ask our readers to consider booking any hotel reservations through our site with Booking.com.  It’s at no additional cost to you, but helps us offset the cost of running this blog!
