In the spirit of a new year, I’ve decided to start doing quarterly “roundups” of our travel activities.  Oftentimes, there are things going on behind the scenes and sometimes our actual experiences don’t make it into an official blog post for many months due to the nature of my schedule.  These posts will offer glimpses of our travel happenings every quarter.  Enjoy!

January

We started off our year with back-to-back-to-back trips.  First, we visited friends in Vegas for a special birthday party.  Although the weather was gloomy overall, we spent a few sunny hours on the strip.  We also ventured off the strip and explored Red Rock Canyon, where it snowed!  We were supposed to go on our first-ever hot air balloon ride during this trip as well, but it was canceled three different days due to weather.

Less than 48 hours after returning from Las Vegas, I was off for Newport Beach, California for a work conference.  I was able to spend some free time exploring Balboa Island, and it was good to see the Pacific again!

12 hours after I returned from California, it was my hubby’s turn to head out for a week-long training in Maryland, where he finished out the month of January.

February

Normally, we always travel somewhere warm in February because I get the winter blues pretty badly this time of year.  However, because of our super packed schedules, we decided to forego our February trip.  We did get away for a night by visiting friends in a town a few hours down the road though.  We turned this into a mini-adventure road trip. 380 miles later, we caught up with two other friends and their families in two other additional towns.  The rest of February was spent in the mountains snowshoeing, and anticipating our big trip in March!

March

March brought in a spur-of-the moment booking for a trip in early 2018!  Yay!!  This month also took us back to Italy!  Neither of us could be more thrilled to have had the opportunity to return to this great country after what seems like a lifetime since we each last visited!  This was our first time in Europe together as a married couple, which made it even more special.  I guess tossing a coin in Trevi Fountain really does mean that one day you will return to Rome!

Fun fact – Between our first quarter adventures in Las Vegas, Newport Beach, and Italy, I logged over 273,000 steps on my Fitbit!

Our first quarter of the year was very busy.  Although I anticipate the next quarter may be a little less hectic, we are looking forward to whatever adventures it may bring!

Tell us about your favorite travel moment from the first 3 months of the year in the comments below!  Can’t wait to hear where you’ve been!

  1. Great post! It is fun to be able to mentally visualize the first quarter of the year for you two. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Wow! You guys have traveled a lot in the last three months. I’m jealous! 🙂 January sounded like a great winter getaway, and Italy? Can’t wait to see some of your blog posts from there! Definitely a bucket list destination. We weren’t able to travel last quarter but will be the next two quarters, so we’re not too sad. 🙂 Cheers!

  3. Wow, when you lay out your first quarter like this, you have done so much! I think you have inspired me to do the same, just so I can re-cap on my adventures as well because sometimes we do need a little reminder. I can’t wait to hear more about Italy though, I know you were super excited about that … and you still have China to come, now that will be interesting! Keep on travelling #feetdotravel

    1. I figured it would be a fun way to share some travels since it takes me so long to get a lot of our adventures in to posts with my crazy schedule! But, we must talk about that China trip….!

  4. Wow thats a great start to the year. We would love to return to Italy too. Look forwadr to the next Quarter! #feetdotravel

  5. Wow! Great start to the year. My favourite travel moment so far this year? Too many to mention really… BUT our four days in Bali were awesome as always and I flew to Auckland to see Bruce Springsteen concert with my old school friend! It was fun reliving the good ole days 🙂

    1. That would be such a great concert! I’d love to get to that part of the world too… one day!!

  6. That’s an amazing start to your year and a great way of recording your activities. Our first quarter has been a bit quiet. We are hoping for more travel in the next quarter.

  7. Great start this year, Jennifer – looking forward to reading more of your adventures. In January we were still in Cambodia and Thailand, in February we had the ski trip in France but unfortunately I had to cancel because I was sick, in March we escaped London for a day to visit the Hever Castle and I flew to Basel for 3 days. In a few days we will go to Italy for one week and a half and then we have planned Cuba in June and Punta Cana in September. We are still looking for Christmas and NYE destinations plus some weekend escapes.

    1. Wow, you have some great places planned for the year!! I can’t wait to hear about all of your trips! We just secured our Christmas break trip last week!!

    1. Hey, thanks! It’s looking to be quite an adventurous year so far as we have many exciting things in the works!!

  8. Some great travels there – who can resist Rome! We have been on some day trips in January and February we visited Denmark and Sweden. In March we have done nothing as my husband has had an op on his knee…..its driving me potty as there are loads of trips I want to take in the UK!! #feetdotravel

    1. I think that would be one of the best things about living in Europe – so many amazing places within a short distance! Hope your hubby is recovering quickly so you can get back on the road!
