By Land and SeaDo you find yourself packing and repacking your toiletry bag every time you’re going somewhere? During my travels over the last several years, I’ve observed the “must have” products that I need to have with me on any given trip, as well as some items that fall under the “I wish I had that” category. As a result, I’ve created my own “grab-and-go” toiletry bag and take it with me everywhere. This way, I know I’m never going to be without a product or item.
If you want to assemble your own grab-and-go toiletry bag, the first thing you will need is the bag itself. I like hanging bags with individual compartments to help keep things organized. Then, you’ll want to gather the following items to store in your bag:
- Homemade First Aid kit
- Powdered laundry detergent
- Paper perfume samples
- Compact mirror
- Curling iron
- Backcombing comb
- Pick
- Hairbrush
- Ponytail holders
- Headband
- Hair clip
- Large clothes pins
- Makeup remover wipes
- Facial cleansing cloths
- Bobby pins
- Chapstick
- Toothbrush
- Floss
- Sewing kit
- Bobby pins
- Vitamins
- Multi-function nail clippers
- Spare eye shadow applicator
- Tweezers
- Cotton balls
- Q-Tips
- Nail file
- Shower pouf
- Oil absorbing sheets
- Razor
- Soap
- Foot soak
- Deodorant
- Shoe mitt
- Solid lotion bar
- Shower cap
Try to find as many flat, solid, powdered or travel size products as possible for this bag. While some of these items may seem impractical, remember that they are not all required and some even have dual purposes. For example, shower caps can store a wet swim suit or cover the soles of dirty shoes. Once you’ve determined what you do and don’t need, assemble everything into your bag and you’re ready to hit the road!
It’s important to note that this bag doesn’t contain liquids courtesy of TSA’s size requirements. I always keep my liquids separate from my grab-and-go bag, even if I happen to be checking my bag. The other important thing to remember is to restock any depleted items as soon as you return from a trip. That way, even if a last minute travel opportunity pops up, you’ll always be ready to grab and go!

This is a great post – not only because you have listed the items that are required in a “grab and go bag” but because I do exactly the same! I found over the years that I would forget to take something so I created a separate wash bag with pretty much all you have listed to ensure that I don’t go without. It’s one less thing to think about when you need to go on your travels. Great minds think alike 🙂 So can can verify, from first hand experience – this is very convenient and it works 🙂
